Poker is more diverse than any other card game. It has more versions, styles, and rules that vary from table to table, from country to country. There are, however, a few key styles that are more widely popular than the rest. Understanding the differences and how to play them is important, as you may have more talent at one than the other. Here are some brief descriptions of how these games are played.
There are basically three different types of poker, all with sub styles with their own unique rules. There are draw games, community card games, and stud games.
Stud games include styles such as Five (or Seven) Card Stud, where the cards you are dealt are face up and cannot be changed.
Draw games are more private, with your hand only being known to you until the review. You can use one opportunity to exchange cards to get a better hand.
Community card games include Texas Holdem and Omaha, where a few cards are shared by every player exposed on the table, along with their private cards to build a hand.
